The curriculum offers advanced training in the analysis of legal data from other legal systems, with a strong focus on the use of skills and techniques drawn from other social sciences. These tools are essential to understanding the extent to which the operation of positive law is influenced by the social and cultural characteristics of the system under study.
By building on the expertise already present within the group of faculty members involved, the curriculum has, over the years, hosted research projects relating to the civil law, common law, and Nordic law traditions.
In recent years, research on non-Western contexts and studies employing legal-anthropological data have also become increasingly frequent.
